Strategic Pillars of Interventions & Core Goals
TTI’s work is structured around four mutually reinforcing pillars, each with a defined set of core goals to address the multifaceted challenges in Somalia.
Economic Transformation and Sustainability
The “Economic Transformation and Sustainability” pillar is a framework designed to move a country’s economy from a low-productivity, often resource-dependent model to a diversified, high-value, and resilient one. Its core principle is to achieve economic growth that not only benefits the current generation but also preserves the environment and social well-being for future generations but also preserves the environment and social well-being for future generations.
Core Goal
To achieve sustained and inclusive economic growth by diversifying the economy, strengthening the private sector, and fostering innovation, thereby creating a resilient and prosperous Somalia capable of withstanding climate shocks.
Conflict Transformation and Social Cohesion
The “Conflict Transformation and Social Cohesion” pillar is a strategic framework designed to move societies beyond the mere absence of violence (“negative peace”) toward a state of constructive coexistence and shared purpose (“positive peace”). This approach recognizes that conflict is a natural part of human interaction, but its transformation into a destructive force is not inevitable. The pillar focuses on addressing the root causes of conflict and building the social fabric—the “glue” that holds communities together—to prevent future violence and enable people to work together for common goals.
Core Goal
To foster “positive peace” by addressing the root causes of conflict, rebuilding trust between communities, and strengthening the social fabric to prevent future violence.
Local Governance & Institutional Stability
The Local Governance and Institutional Stability pillar is a comprehensive framework focused on building a durable and effective government in Somalia. It addresses the critical links between strengthening local administration, transitioning from a clan-based political system to a more
democratic one, and ensuring that government institutions are stable and accountable.
Core Goal
To build a durable, accountable, and effective government by strengthening local administration and transitioning to a more democratic, stable political system, capable of leading climate resilience and adaptation efforts.
Protection and Diversity Inclusion
The pillar represents a comprehensive approach to safeguarding the rights and well-being of all individuals, with a deliberate focus on the most acute forms of harm: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection (CP) issues. This pillar goes beyond basic services to embed principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into every aspect of protection work, ensuring that interventions are not only effective but also culturally sensitive, accessible, and nondiscriminatory.
Core Goal
To safeguard the rights and well-being of all individuals by providing a comprehensive approach to protection, with a deliberate focus on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection (CP), and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), explicitly addressing climate-induced vulnerabilities and risks.
